Our second meeting of the Spring Semester is TONIGHT from 5-6pm, inside the Eagle Commons Library- Room 110a.

We’ll be talking about our local project (an urban garden!) and other things we can get involved in.

Also, we will be having a speaker from AmeriCorps VISTA talk for a bit at the beginning of the meeting. AmeriCorps VISTA is considered a “domestic Peace Corps” and have been helping build communities and fight poverty for just about half a century. VISTA members commit one year of full-time service with a non-profit organization in Denton, to help that organization build sustainable solutions to poverty. To learn more about their orientation/training dates and benefits (including monthly living allowances and $5,730 that can be used to repay student loans or for future education), be sure to come out to the meeting!

(But do check out www.AmeriCorps.gov and watch this video on how VISTAs are making a difference throughout the country https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfYCddyQw6E&noredirect=1.)

We hope to see you at the meeting, and bring a friend with you!
