Serving Roatán (an island off the coast of Honduras), the Abundant Life Foundation is a frontier philanthropic organization based in Texas. Fueled by passion and a genuine love for the locals, their work is focused across three primary initiatives: education, community and conservation. They identify opportunities to make the most impact and take a long-term, community-driven approach with the goal of providing sustainable solutions, building upon the skills of community members, and leading to personal and community growth and well-being.
These lights are designed to provide light for 1 year, but have in fact lasted 2+ years! With these lights, families are able to light their homes at night, students can use them to read and study in the dark, and fishermen even use them when diving for lobsters.
One of the most-impactful things The Abundant Life Foundation does is provide small, waterproof, solar-powered lights to the locals of Roatán. This semester, UNT Future Without Poverty is working with The Abundant Life Foundation to raise funds for these lights, costing only $10 each. Your donation will go a long way in providing light—a basic necessity that many people around the world take for granted, and an important building-block towards a happy, self-sustaining community.
